International Business Financial Aid, Scholarships and Grants for School

A. Scholarships Available

Thunderbird School of Global Management is a private business school that was founded in the year 1946. The main campus is located in Glendale, Arizona, with additional affiliates and campuses in Switzerland, China, Russia and Mexico. The institution offers various degree programs in the graduate level, including part-time, full-time, distance and the executive MBA in Global management, MA in Global Affairs and MS in Global management programs. The school ranks number 1 in the 2010 ranking for the international business programs of the US News and World Report.

How to Apply
Interested applicants who want to be considered for the scholarship will need to submit their 1 page statement that explains why they believe they are a strong candidate for the Thunderbird Scholarship. The selection will be based on their essay and on the documents that were submitted with their application.

Qualifications

The scholarship is quite competitive so the applicants must submit the following requirements:

1.  GMAT of not less than 630 or a GRE of 1250

2 . Their university records showing not less than 3.0 or its equivalent

3 . Active in the organizations and clubs in their previous professional or educational experience

4.  Residence or international exposure

The list below are the scholarship levels which the incoming students are qualified:

Thunderbird Tower Scholarship: 50% of the tuition of 1 trimester

Founder’s Scholarship: 50% tuition of study program

Provost Scholarship: 25% tuition of study program

Presidential Scholarship: 100% tuition of study program

Trustee’s Scholarship: 75% tuition of study program

Restrictions or Rules

The Merit–based financial awards will be offered on a competitive basis, as listed below:
• Domestic Diversity Grant: a grant that provides 50% of the tuition coverage to the students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents that belong to an under-represented U.S. ethnic group in the Thunderbird student body, qualifies for this award. This program will be supported by the Hearst Foundation, the Coca-Cola Foundation, and by the school.

Thunderbird/NSHMBA University Partnership: is awarded to all levels. The competitive applicants should be U.S. citizens or the permanent residents with a Hispanic heritage or has demonstrated their commitment to the Hispanic community.

B. Grants Available

The University of South Carolina Moore School of Business

The Moore School of Business of the University of South Carolina, is a public business school that was founded in the year 1919. The institution places its primary emphasis on the study of international business. In 2009, around 3,500 undergraduates and the 700 graduate students have attended Moore School. Undergraduates can progress toward achieving a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Business Administration with focus in international business. The Graduate students can pursue an IMBA ( International Masters of Business Administration) degree.

The school also offers language courses in Chinese, Arabic, French, Italian, German, Japanese, Spanish and Portuguese. Students can also pursue futher studies toward an MS degree major in international business. The Moore School of Business ranks 2nd in the US News and World Report’s 2010 ranking of the international business programs.

How to Apply

Students can apply thru the electronic application system by clicking “Apply Yourself”. They should create an account once they access the site unless they already created a previous application like the International Business application. Paper applicants are not available.

Once the account is created, students should log in and fill up the request information. The application can be saved and returned to by using the password and log in. There are no application fees charged to the Scholarship applications in the Undergraduate programs.

Restrictions or Rules

MOORE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIPS GENERAL GUIDELINES

(as adopted by Darla Moore School of Business Scholarship Committee:)

• The recipients should be full-time students who are enrolled in the Darla Moore School of Business, Columbia campus.
• The primary consideration is academic merit

Other selection criteria for the scholarship may be specified by the donors, like class standing, major, financial need or residency.

The recipients who will transfer from Darla Moore School of Business to another college lose their scholarship from Darla Moore School of Business.

The other scholarships can be available through the USC’s Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Office. Only the current students of Moore School of Business will be qualified to apply for the Moore School scholarships.

NOTIFICATION OF SCHOLARSHIP STATUS

The recipients shall receive the letter that indicates that they have been awarded the scholarship or not. Selected students for the scholarships are notified in the letter of the scholarship name they were awarded and with the award amount. The letter is sent to mailing address that is listed on the recipient’s scholarship application.
