UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIPS OF KSU

The Biological and Agricultural Engineering Department of Kansas State University offers several scholarships to the incoming and current students of the institution. The students are considered for all the department scholarships that they will qualify for. 5th year seniors are considered depending on the availability of the funds. KSU has published a list of all the scholarships that are available and this includes around 120 scholarships that are offered thru the College of Agriculture and Engineering. This are available for students taking up their majors in Biological Systems Engineering and Agricultural Technology Management.

How to Apply

Applicants must download the PDF form of the BAE/ATM scholarship application. This must be filled out by typing the answers neatly or in writing using black ink. In addition to filling out the form, the student must answer in an essay form 6 questions on the application form. The applicant must also download the online scholarship application form of the university at http://www.ksu.edu/sfa/application/scholarship_app.html

Program Requirements

The scholarship requirements and award amounts will vary depending on the program and the availability of the funds from the donors.

  1. Kansas Section Scholarship (ASAE*)
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Agricultural Technology management or Biological Systems Engineering. Preference will be given to the transfer or new student.
    Award Amount: $250.00 to 2 scholars
    Majors: ATM/BSE
  2. Kansas Food and Energy Council Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Agricultural Technology Management or Biological Systems Engineering. Preference will be given to a freshman with a background in the youth electrical education programs (FFA, Boy Scouts, 4-H and/or employment in electrical profession)
    Award Amount: $500.00
    Majors: ATM/BSE
  3. Martin Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Agricultural Technology management or Biological Systems Engineering with a minimum of 2.0 GPA. Financial need will be the top priority in selecting the recipient.
    Award Amount: $500.00

  4. Melvin Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant should be a senior or junior in Agricultural Technology Management or Biological Systems Engineering with a minimum 3.5 GPA. Student should possess an outstanding character, strong moral traits and leadership potential.
    Award Amount: $400.00
    Majors: ATM/BSE
  5. Roberts Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Agricultural Technology management or Biological Systems Engineering who are dedicated to completing their bachelor’s degree in Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
    Award Amount: Depends on availability
    Majors: ATM/BSE
  6. John Deere Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Agricultural Technology management or Biological Systems Engineering who has an interest in the future employment in managing a John Deere Dealership upon their graduation.
    Award Amount: Depends on availability
    Majors: ATM/BSE
  7. Chung-Kim Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a transfer or new student in Biological Systems Engineering with emphasis in Processing. Should have excellent scholastic record.
    Award Amount: $500.00
    Majors: BSE
  8. Kasten Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Biological Systems Engineering with an emphasis on the international program involvement. The applicant must sue their scholarship during their junior, sophomore or senior year. The scholarship can be retained for 1 to 3 years if the students makes an adequate progress toward the degree and has a continued active interest in the international program involvement.
    Award Amount: $800.00
    Major: BSE
  9. Stapleton Scholarship
    Requirements:
     Applicant must be a student of Biological Systems Engineering with a dedication in completing their bachelor’s degree. They must submit a statement of 500 words that describes their dedication in completing their requirements for a Biological systems engineering Bachelor’s Degree.
    Award Amounts: $1,000 each for 2 scholars
    Majors: BSE

Restrictions or Rules

Individuals who are applying for the Kasten, Chung-Kim or the Stapleton scholarships need to include their statement that describes their interest in completing these requirements for their bachelor’s degree. Some donors specified that the financial need must be a factor in the awarding of scholarships; the statement or details about their financial needs can be useful in making the evaluations. Some of the donors provide the scholarship for the student who plan to work for a specific industry. A statement of the career goals is helpful for this case. The statements must be sent to the Biological and Agricultural Engineering Scholarship Committee.
