University of Nebraska College of Business Administration Scholarships

The university awards its business students with scholarships worth over $500,000 in each academic year. First year business students who have a minimum ACT score of 34 are eligible for the Forrest Blood Scholarship. They can renew the scholarship yearly by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.7. Business students studying full time who completed at the least 1 fall or summer semester with the school are eligible for scholarships for CBA Upper-Class. In summary, almost 500 scholarships are awarded to the students of College of Business Administration each year.

How to Apply

Students can apply for the upper-Class scholarships on MyRed. February 1 is the application deadline each year. To be eligible, the business student should:

  • be enrolled as a CBA full-time student at during the application. Dropping to part-time status results to the loss of the scholarship.
  • be enrolled as a CBA full-time student during the time scholarship is paid. Mid-year graduates receives only 1 semester of financial support.
  • Complete at least 12 credit hours in CBA by 1st of January.

American Marketing Association Foundation

The Foundation give yearly scholarships to its students who are pursuing their Marketing doctoral degrees. The Valuing Diversity Scholarship Program is offered to students with African American, Native American and Hispanic American descent. The students should be attending a certified doctoral marketing program with a minimum of 1 year completed study. Students should submit a completed application, 2 recommendation letters and answer the essay question in order to apply. Each year several scholarships worth $1000 are given to the marketing doctoral students.

How to Apply

All the applicants should meet the requirements below. Previous applicants are highly recommended to reapply.

• They should belong to any one of these populations: African American, Native American or Hispanic American
• They should be a citizen of the US or a US permanent resident.
• They should be enrolled in a full-time, on-campus AACSB certified marketing doctoral program, and successfully completed a minimum of one year.
• They have not yet received the Valuing Diversity Scholarship.

The applicants should complete an online application that can be found on the website of AMAF on or before June 1, 2011. The Essays should be 2 pages long, double-spaced, around 500 words in 12 pt. Type, Microsoft word Format. The sources mentioned in the essay must be written on another page and does not count against the maximum of 2 pages.

The evaluation of the applicants are based on:

1 The 2 recommendation letters:
a. 1 from the Doctoral Program coordinator or applicant’s advisor
b. 1 from another member of the faculty, preferably whom applicant’s have taken their course.
The letters should talk about the academic work or the initiatives of the candidate that demonstrates their commitment to advancing diversity.

2 The essay that explains how in receiving the Valuing Diversity Scholarship helps further the student’s research efforts. The essay should also address any of the following:
a. How the dissertation research incorporates design, conceptual or methods issues that are related to diversity
b. How the dissertation research will contribute in the advancement of the marketing field
c. How the dissertation research will incorporate any of the innovative theories or the advanced, methods, cutting-edge designs or approaches.

The Scholarship Committee chair of AMAF and President of AMA Academic Division selects the evaluation committee of the previous scholarship recipients, member of the Academic Council of AMA and a faculty member of marketing.
