FULBRIGHT VISITING SCHOLARS PROGRAM, USA

The Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program for the academic year 2011-2012 is under the adminsteration of the Council for International Exhcanged of Scholars. It is a 9 month program wherein the scholars conduct lectures, research or pursue the combination of both at a college or university in America.

How to Apply

Interested scholarship candidates must submit their application form and their research proposal of their chosen field. They should also attain a TOEFL score of not less than 600 on the paper-based exam or a score of 233 with the computer based exam. The application forms should be in hard copy and sent to the Educational Advisor of the American Embassy on or before January 6, 2011. Program Requirements

Scholars who have doctoral degree in the academic disciplines like arts and humanities, science and technology, commerce and finance, education, journalism and media, and other related fields are eligible for the program.

Restrictions or Rules

The award will fund international airfare, living expenses, accomodations, incidentals and health insurance of the scholars. The Fulbright Scholar Program is administered by the Council for International Exchange of Scholars and sponsored by US Department of State. The deadline for the submission of the application deadline is January 6, 2011.

DESERET DIGITAL MEDIA SCHOLARSHIP,USA

The Salt Lake Community College will provide the full tuition fee for the Fall Semester of 2011 to applicants interested in media. The Deseret Digital Media Scholarship is for students taking Communications and have evidence of their strong interest, ability and their application of new media in communications. The student selected to receive Deseret Digital Media Scholarship will be expected to attend the scholarship banquet of Deseret Management Corporation.

How to Apply

Applicants must go to the Salt Lake Community College website to download an application form and view the application process and list of requirements.

Program Requirements

The basic requirements are the following:

  • Evidence of their quality use of new media for their communication purposes
  • Must have at least 1 remaining semester in the academic program they are enrolled in
  • has a cumulative GPA of 3.0

Additional to the application page and required materials, each of the students must submit their portfolio of new media products that will be reviewed by the faculty of SLCC Communications.

B. Grants Available

CHALLENGE AMERICA FAST-TRACK

The Challenge America Fast-Tract category offers their support primarily to the mid and small sized organizations for projects that will extend the reach of arts to the underserved populations- those with opportunities to experience arts are being limited by ethnicity, geography, disability and economics. Age will not qualify the group as underserved, at least one of the criteria mentioned above must also be present. The grants are made available for projects emphasizing potential of art in community development and programming for professional arts.

How to Apply

Applicants wil be asked to select the most relevant outcome of their project and a secondary outcome. In making the selections, the applicants must identify the outcomes that will reflect the results that are expected in achieving their project. Once the grant is received, the grantees will be asked to show evidence of the results.

The applications must be submitted to the staff of Challenge America Fast-Track and these will be reviewed by the diverse group of art experts and other individuals who has a broad knowledge of specific types of projects in the funding area. The Applications are being reviewed based on artistic merit and artist excellence. For more detailed information on how this will be evaluated, visit the official website.

The deadline for applications is on May 26, 2011 and January 1, 2012 is the earliest starting date for the Arts Endowment Period of support.

Program Requirements

Restrictions or Rules

The grant does not fund the following:

  • consortium applications
  • activities occurring over an extended period
  • competitions aside from design competitions
  • projects involving curriculum-based art instruction
  • regranting or subgranting
  • the same organizations funded for over 3 years consecutive even if it was for different projects

The Arts Endowment highly encourages organizations with less than $50,000 operating budgets and those that have never applied for prior public funding to consider applying to state or local sources to gain their experience in the practical management of public funds.
